Here at Tile Farm Off Road, our MX tuition is perfect for those wishing to try our Motocross for the first time or for the seasoned rider wishing to perfect their riding style or build up their confidence. We use our very own purpose built practice track during the warmer months then have a flat stubble field track we use over winter months. If needed (given the ever changing weather!), we also have access to an all weather area for beginner riders too.
Our instructors are obsessed with motocross and their teaching skills are second to none. We believe the quality of an instructor is all about their expert knowledge, eye for detail, and effective communication skills to help riders on their path to achieving their individual goals - whether that be learning how to ride a motocross bike, preparing for their first race, or working at winning their next championship!
Our approach may differ to many of the larger training schools as we focus on the individual and tailor the lesson to your needs - whatever level you are at. We offer 1:1 lessons as well as larger group sessions.
No prior experience is necessary for our 1:1 lessons and we even have bikes to hire for those who don’t have their own! (please see height restriction details below)
bikes available to hire:
Yamaha TTR 125cc - perfect for teenagers and smaller adults to build up their confidence. Minimum height is 5ft.
Our brand new Husqvarna EE5 (Electric) - Ideal for our younger riders suitable from approx. 5 years upwards. Minimum height is approx 4ft depending on inside leg length. Maximum weight is 40kg.
OUR ALL NEW TFOR EE5 MX TUITION PROGRAMME
Here at Tile Farm Off Road, we are committed to supporting younger riders to access motocross even if they don’t have their own bike or kit.
As part of our pledge to getting people of all ages involved in motocross, we now provide the opportunity for younger riders to take part in our MX Tuition through our TFOR EE5 MX Tuition Programme.
Our EE5’s are aimed at ages 5 years and upwards however there is a minimum height requirement of approx 4ft (depending on inside leg measurement). The maximum height is approx. 5ft as at this height you can then access our Yamaha TTR 125 MX Tuition. The maximum weight for the EE5 is 40kg (approx. 6 1/2 stone).
Riders will progress through levels and receive a TFOR EE5 licence upon completion of each level. Once reaching Level 2, this will allow the rider the opportunity to “Pay and Play” during scheduled Public Practice sessions. This encourages riders to take their newly acquired skills onto the practice track outside of their tuition sessions.
All riders will be required to complete each level in order to gain their TFOR EE5 licence. The TFOR EE5 programme and Pay and Plays is only applicable to those hiring our EE5’s.
Kit and bike will be provided for both MX Tuition and Pay and Play sessions.

FAQS about our MX tuition
Who provides the tuition?
All tuition is provided by staff who have a thorough understanding and experience of motocross. We choose tutors who have exceptional teaching ability as well as experience on the bikes themselves. Will Bayman, is our lead tutor and joint owner of Tile Farm Off Road Limited. Will has been riding motocross since his early teens and accelerated up to racing at expert level in the early stages of his riding. Will has been teaching motocross since his late teens to both children and adults (groups and individually) of various abilities from beginner to intermediate level and has a very patient, clear, and friendly approach to help riders develop their confidence and get the most out of their ability. Will continues to race at expert level as well as leading our Quad Adventures here at Tile Farm Off Road where he teaches the safe riding of Quads to our customers before their treks.
Do you only provide tuition for beginners?
Here at Tile Farm Off Road, our aim is to support riders from complete beginners to those who want to better themselves in their racing. No prior experience on a bike is necessary before having an MX tuition session - we just ask that you give us a brief overview of your ability at the time of booking. Each lesson is tailored to the rider so we can work on the various elements of riding to suit you and your goals.
Do you provide the safety gear?
When booking bike hire, use of safety gear is included in the price including helmet, MX boots, gloves, goggles and body armour. We also have overalls available to protect your clothing or if your clothing does not cover your arms/legs fully. We ask for your sizes in advance so we can make sure we have the correct kit available and ready for you.
My child has additional needs, can they still attend tuition?
Our staff have a wealth of experience providing tuition to young people who have behavioural or additional needs. Our instructors understanding or additional needs stem from both personal and professional experiences. Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible to encourage people to get into the sport so please get in touch with us if you, or your child, have any additional needs or disability you feel we need to be aware of before the tuition goes ahead. Although we try to be as inclusive as possible, there are some disabilities which are not covered by our insurance due to the significant increase in the risk of harm to the rider. You are welcome to get in touch with us to discuss your situation if you are unsure.
How many people will be in my tuition session?
Our tuition is tailor made to suit the person who has booked it. Lessons booked for 1 rider mean that it is just you and the instructor 1:1 for the duration of your session. We do not add extra people to your tuition unless it is a specific group event where riders book on individually.
Where does the tuition take place?
Our tuition takes place on our purpose built practice track based here at Tile Farm Off Road. The use of the track for the duration of the tuition is included in the tuition cost. During the winter months, we often have access to a flat stubble field track which we use when the main practice track is too wet. If needed (given the ever changing weather!), we also have access to an all weather area for beginner riders/younger riders too.
Is there a minimum age for your MX Tuition?
There is no minimum age for MX tuition with your own bike however it is expected the rider will be of an age where they can understand and follow instruction from our trainers. There is no minimum age for MX Tuition with bike hire however please note there are height restrictions as detailed above.
What if it is raining?
Our MX tuition takes place in all weathers as it is an outdoor sport however if the weather means the track conditions are too poor for your tuition to go ahead, we will get in touch with you to rearrange your session or provide a full refund. The decision is often made the morning of your tuition if the weather has been mixed. Where possible, we will utilise our stubble field or all weather arena however they are subject to availability.
Can I hire a bike without taking part in tuition?
No, we do not hire out bikes for general use or practice. It is only as part of an MX tuition session or as a Pay and Play option for riders on our TFOR EE5 MX Tuition Programme.
Can I pay to use the track by myself after my lesson or can I ride the track whilst my child has a lesson?
No, unfortunately we are unable to offer extra time on the practice track before or after lessons. We are also unable to allow parents, children, or friends to have use of the track, or kiddies track, whilst the lesson is in progress. Please refer to our Wednesday practice days for information on general use of the track.
Is it safe?
Motorsport can be dangerous. We take all reasonable precautions and our team meet all the requirements of health and safety. Motocross in particular has a high likelihood of injury so please take care and ensure you are wearing the correct safety wear such as: helmet, goggles, gloves, motocross boots, body armour and appropriate motocross attire.
EE5 FAQs
What are the age/height/weight restrictions for the EE5s and the tuition programme?
The bike is aimed at ages 5 years and upwards however there is a minimum height requirement of 4ft2. The maximum height is approx. 5ft as at this height you can then access our Yamaha TTR 125 MX Tuition. The maximum weight for the EE5 is 38kg (approx. 6 stone).
Do I have to complete Level 1 lessons if I can already ride competently?
All riders will have to complete the Level 1 requirements to move up to Level 2. This may take one lesson for competent riders or more for complete beginners. It is completely tailored to the rider.
What does Pay and Play look like at a public practice session?
Riders will book in advance for a Pay and Play. Depending on their level, they will either use the beginner track in 15 minute sessions or go out in the Auto/65cc Session on the main track.
Pay and play is not available with our other bikes at this time.
How often do I need to have the lessons?
We would recommend regular lessons at least once to twice per month if you are looking to progress up the stages.
Can I book a longer lesson?
At this time the EE5 MX Tuition programme offers 1 hour lessons only.
Can I book a joint lesson?
At this time we only offer 1:1 lessons for the EE5 MX Tuition Programme.
Why is the EE5 tuition cheaper than the TTR125 tuition?
The running costs for the EE5’s are slightly lower than our non-electric bikes so we wanted to share that saving with the customer where possible.
